Aid Sri Lanka's swimming project is now underway

Aid Sri Lanka’s swimming project is now underway. We have located two pools that belong to hotels that we are able to use temporarily and an enthusiastic team of helpers.

Children are being transported by van to their pools, swimming costumes purchased and a sea of happy smiling faces. Small classes are the way forward. Immediate aim is to instill water confidence, balance and correct body position after that practice and technique.

Age group targeted is 8yrs – 12yrs for boys and 8yrs to mid thirties for girls and women. Would like to teach as many girls over the age of 18yrs as possible as they are beneficial as acting as helpers. Inkie is my helper. One week ago she was a non swimmer and very nervous, a week later I’m amazed at how well she understands the mechanics of swimming and is swimming a good backstroke.
